Hickory Homes

Hickory Homes, located on the Schowalter Campus, at 175 W. Hickory, is a government subsidized living complex, that offers 24 outside apartments, as well as a central complex with 26 indoor apartments.  All apartments have an outside entrance and patio.   An onsite laundry, library, ground floor storm shelter, and a large common area are available.  These one bedroom apartments offer privacy and independence, as well as the opportunity for daily interaction; including exercise, games, monthly potluck dinners, weekly coffees, etc.

Hickory Homes is located between the beautiful Dyck Arboretum of the Plains and Lake Vista, with lighted fountains and walking paths.  Income based rent is available through a contract with the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD).  Utilities are covered under subsidy allocated by the government.  Pets are welcome in the outside apartments.
