Good Samaritan Fund

The building of Schowalter Villa was the fulfillment of a vision and dreams of a number of people. In his will, J.A. Schowalter stipulated that funds from his estate be used to provide care for retired church workers. Allen Erb was asked to serve as board chairman for this development. Mr. Erb projected, "The Villa would not become a place where the aged are just pushed away in some crowded room and forgotten. It will be a place where they may find contentment, usefulness, rest, recreation, security, and fellowship in a setting they can truly call their home." From 1961 until today, our purpose remains the same: to provide quality of life, enriching those we serve.

This spring, however, we face a staggering challenge.

The Good Samaritan Caring Fund, established years ago, is essential in helping with this Medicaid shortfall.

Schowalter Villa board, staff and volunteers are dedicated to continue providing quality of life with good stewardship of resources. Schowalter Villa's Good Samaritan Caring Fund continues because of the generous support of people like you. It is crucial that our healthcare residents can count on your help today.

"When we visited our mother in her independent living home on the Villa campus, we would look across the street and see only a healthcare facility building made up of bricks and mortar. When mother needed additional care and she moved into the center, we discovered the "heart" of Schowalter Villa."                                                                                          -Cheryl, daughter of Schowalter Villa Healthcare Resident

The shortfall of Medicaid financial assistance per resident is now: Daily - $43; Weekly - $301; Monthly - $1,308; Annually - $15,695. Giving any amount makes a difference.

“It was great to be able to do the games every Sunday this month! We had a wonderful time. As the old McDonald's commercial says: "I'm lovin' it"!”
